When you click on Walk on the Home (or Dashboard) screen or Walklist on the internal menu (found by clicking the three bar menu in the upper right) you will be taken to your Walklist queue.
Here you will see three options: Assigned, Unassigned and Offline ( if your Admin has not disabled the latter). If your campaign has Offline lists enabled, you can load your lists to your local device (tablet or phone) and begin block walking in the event of bad cell reception. To push data back to the server, go to the three bar menu in the top right of your device and from the internal menu of the Sidekick app, choose "Data" then "Offline." You will then have the option to push individual voters one at a time or, by choosing "Push All," to push every voter contact you have made Offline. Keep in mind to push data back to the server, you have to be connected to 4G, LTE or WiFI and not in airplane mode.
Unassigned Lists are lists you can choose when you have completed your Assigned Lists and, using the Distance notation, decided which list is closest to you and then, choosing the list, you can self-assign the list to yourself.
Your Assigned lists are lists that have been specifically assigned to you as an individual or to the team you have been placed on by someone with an Admin level permission.
Before you click on any walklists assigned to you, decide how you want the lists to be displayed, either in List View or Map View. The former is just a list of voters in the order they were placed in the walk list by your Admin. In the latter view, you will see a cluster of red, geocoded address pins - these are the homes in your walklist. You will self-navigate through the list, with the blue GPS dot that represents your smart device's location on the map.
To start surveying voters, find yourself (blue GPS dot) on the map and click on the home (red pin) nearest you. You will see a Voter Display screen pop up.
If a voter answers the door, confirm the voters name then hit "Select." This ensures that you are surveying the correct voter and that the answers that voter gives you will pollinate his or her name as a tag in the backend of CampaignSidekick.
Once you have hit Select, choose "Available for Survey" and you will drop into a Survey. Ask the voter the questions, clicking the answers the voter gives you. When the survey is over, hit "End Survey" to complete the survey and remove the voter from the list.
If there are other registered voters in the household, they will be displayed after you hit End Survey.
To survey those available, chose the next voter at home. If no other voters are home, hit "Mark Address As Complete."
When you have done that, you will be dropped back into the Map View. You will note that the pin that corresponds to the recently complete address is now gone from the map. This is to avoid any other walkers knocking on that address that day.
If you go to an address and no one is home, hit "Select" then "Left Literature." That will mark the voters as "Not Home" and remove the pin from the map.
If, however, you make the home as "Not Home/Left Literature" and move to another address, but see someone pull up into the driveway, you may walk back, and hit "Resurvey" in the upper left hand corner of your map. This action will drop you into the Resurvey queue. Choose the voter you wish to survey. Once you have surveyed the voter, you will be taken back to the Resurvey queue. There you will see the voter marked as "Surveyed."
To get back to the Map, hit the "Back" button in the upper left, find yourself on the map again (blue GPS dot) and resume block walking.
